Dr. Paulo Macedo
Dr. Paulo Macedo is a Senior Statistician at IntegrityM. He is a nationally recognized expert in statistical and econometric modeling with extensive experience in analyzing data to test hypotheses about fraud using statistical methods and frameworks in health care as well as other sectors.
Dr. Macedo has more than 10 years of experience supporting the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid (CMS) on projects and contracts. He has developed statistical sampling and extrapolation designs, and has used extensively both anomaly detection methods and predictive analytics techniques to identify fraud patterns in the healthcare industry. He has also made frequent use of other data mining approaches involving geographic data and link analysis, as well as analysis involving a mix of real and simulated data.
Prior to joining IntegrityM, Dr. Macedo served as a Visiting Scholar at The George Washington University and at Yale University Economic Growth Center and was a Professor of Economics at the University of Minas Gerais (Brazil).
Dr. Macedo is a published author and past presenter at the National Health Care Anti-Fraud Association Annual Training Conference and SAS Global Forum.
Dr. Macedo received a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (Brazil), an Master of Arts in Economics from Fundacao Getulio Vargas (Brazil), and a Ph.D. in Economics from New York University. He is a member of the American Economic Association and the American Society of Health Economists.
