Integrity Management Services, Inc. (IntegrityM) is pleased to announce that Didem Egemen, statistician, has been selected to deliver her abstract at the INFORMS 2017 Annual Meeting. INFORMS — the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences — is the world’s largest professional association dedicated to and promoting best practices and advances in operations research, management science, and analytics to improve operational processes, decision-making, and outcomes. Scheduled for October 22-25, 2017 at the George R. Brown Convention Center in downtown in Houston, Texas, the meeting will bring together more than 5,000 INFORMS members, students, prospective employers and employees, and academic and industry experts for opportunities to connect and network.
About the Presenter
Ms. Egemen will deliver a presentation titled “What Indicators Matter for Fraud Identification in Healthcare and to What Extent do They Matter?” Detecting healthcare fraud is not a straightforward process since it requires outlier detection methods for large number of indicators. In this presentation, we propose combining different methods to obtain outliers within healthcare providers by taking into account different information provided by these three methods and try to reduce the number of false positives.
Ms. Egemen is a Ph.D. candidate in Statistics at the George Washington University (GW), Washington D.C. She is working as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the Institute of Integrating Statistics in Decision Science at GW and contributing in projects on healthcare fraud, waste and abuse with IntegrityM. She received her Bachelor of Science (Minor in Information Systems) and Master of Science in Statistics from the Middle East Technical University, Ankara, Turkey. Her research interests include: Bayesian Modeling, Stochastic Processes, Reliability, and Outlier Detection.
